8 DNA + Health

Preventative health requires taking a look at the whole picture, not just diet and exercise but also detoxification, hormones, inflammation and methylation as well as mental wellness. In this chapter we will look at genetic variations related to how well your body regulates sex hormones, detoxification, inflammation and methylation. The results give you an indication of your predisposition to the health factors tested. Your genetics are your blueprint. You can enhance and improve your health outcomes through diet, fitness and environment. Learn to read DNA related to health, use this tool to make decisions with confidence.

The DNA health report includes 4 areas:

  • Detoxification
  • Hormones
  • Inflammation
  • Methylation

This report is different than the other reports we have looked at so far because many areas are broken down to a single SNP. This provides the most detailed information available. Because many test results are based on a single SNP, more results in this report are likely to show up as all good (green) 50/50 (green/red) or all poor (red).

Learning objectives:

  • Learn about the test areas in a health DNA report.
  • Understand what the tests tell you about your risk potential.
  • Learn about the recommendations provided for each test area.
  • Learn how to understand a health DNA report.

Genetics are just one piece of the puzzle. Our external environment including early development, exposure to harmful chemicals, chronic stress, and the normal aging process influence our overall health.
